
Ricky Ruiz
Ricky Ruiz is from Miami, FL, and attended the University of South Florida, where he graduated with a BFA in Dance Performance.
Ricky has had the honor of working under Anne Reinking at the Broadway Theatre Project, as well as having performed work by Jose Limon, Bob Fosse and Trisha Brown. Upon moving to Chicago he began dancing with River North Dance Chicago, under the direction of Frank Chavez.
Throughout his time with the company he performed works by Chavez, Lauri Stallings, Robert Battle, Sidra Bell, Kevin Iaga Jeff and others. He has also performed with Elements Contemporary Ballet. Ricky is an enthusiastic and passionate teacher and choreographer. He has created work for the University of Jacksonville Dance Department and Houston Metropolitan Dance Company.
He is often a guest teacher and choreographer for schools and studios around the country including Coral Reef Senior High, FSU, GSU, UW and OU.
He has been an adjunct faculty member at Roosevelt University and Chicago High School for the Arts. He is on faculty at Lou Contes/Hubbard Street Dance as well as a guest instructor for various professional companies such as Danceworks Chicago, Thodos Dance and River North Dance Chicago.
In 2012 Ricky was voted among the top 5 of Chicago’s favorite teachers.
